YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State University’s 2011 Homecoming Week kicks off today with activities and giveaways leading up to the 71st annual Homecoming Parade and football game Saturday.

Saturday’s parade begins at 11 a.m. and will proceed up Fifth Avenue to Stambaugh Stadium. Afterward, the Penguins host Western Illinois for a 1 p.m. kickoff, and the crowning of homecoming king and queen will take place at halftime.

Highlights for the week include:

Today

Arby’s Breakfast Sausage Biscuit Eating Contest, 5 to 7 a.m., Kilcawley Center.

“Build a Penguin” and photo booth, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Campus Core of Kilcawley Center.

Tuesday

Magic and illusion act by Jason Alan, 10 a.m. to noon, The Hub of Kilcawley Center.

Photo dog tags and Penguin sand art, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Campus Core of Kilcawley Center.

Denny’s Burger Eating Contest, noon, Kilcawley Center.

Wednesday

Doughnut-eating contest, 5 a.m. to 7 a.m., Kilcawley Student Center.

Red and White Day — sport YSU colors to win prizes, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Kilcawley Center.

Caricature artist, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Kilcawley Center.

Thursday

Old West photos, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Campus Core of Kilcawley Center.

The Best Wing-Ding Eating Contest in the Valley, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, noon, Kilcawley Center.

Friday

Free Arby’s breakfast to the first 200 students with a valid YSU ID, 8 to 9:30 a.m., Arby’s at Kilcawley Center.

Student Affairs Careers Celebration, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center.
