Western Reserve Road near I-680 remains closed

Western Reserve Road near Interstate 680 will be closed today and at least part of Monday after 900 gallons of driveway sealant spilled on it.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it didn’t know for sure when the road, between South Avenue and the I-680 exit ramp, would reopen, but expect it to be sometime Monday afternoon.

The patrol along with the Mahoning County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Mahoning County Engineer’s Department were on the scene today working to clean the road.

The spill happened about 5 p.m. Saturday when one truck carrying sealant ran into the back of another truck transporting sealant. There were no injuries.
