Mount Union 27, Capital 7

COLUMBUS

Mount Union’s defense forced four turnovers and held Capital to a season-low 156 yards in an Ohio Athletic Conference victory. Mount Union (7-0, 6-0) led 3-0 at halftime on a 35-yard Tyler Almeida field goal. Almeida booted a 22-yard field goal on first drive of the second half to put the Raiders up 6-0. Mount Union found the end zone midway through the third quarter when senior linebacker Arthur Smith had a 40-yard interception return. Junior quarterback Neal Seaman extended the lead to 20-0 with a five-yard touchdown run with 2:51 to play in the third quarter. Capital (3-4, 3-3) got on the score board early in the fourth quarter as quarterback Chase Carris hit Matt White on a 15-yard touchdown pass which brought the score to 20-7. Mount Union finished the scoring on a 25-yard touchdown run by backup running back Jake Simon. Along with Smith, junior defensive end Charles Dieuseul had nine tackles with a pair of sacks while Nick Driskill had eight stops and two interceptions to lead the RaiderS defense. Mount Union junior running back Jeremy Murray had 19 carries for 44 yards in the first half but left the game with an injury. Simon came off the bench and had a career-high 169 yards rushing on 17 carries. Seaman was 8-of-16 passing for 74 yards and ran for 75 yards with a rushing touchdown. Mount Union won its 60th straight regular season game and extended its regular season road winning streak to 103 games.

Westminster 48, Thiel 21

GREENVILLE, PA.

Westminster (5-2, 4-1 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) mounted a 48-0 lead in the third quarter for its largest lead in a game since it beat Urbana 55-6 in 1997. Senior quarterback Shawn Lehocky completed his first 11 passes before completing a career-high 22 passes on 25 attempts for 202 yards and a career high-tying three touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Geno Pasquinelli (Salem) caught seven passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns giving him 15 career touchdown receptions that tied him for seventh all-time. The Titans outgained the Tomcats (0-7, 0-5) 315-282 in total yardage. Running back De’Von Drish led Thiel with 124 rushing yards on 24 carries.

Slippery Rock 48, Lock Haven 27

LOCK HAVEN, PA.

Senior wide receiver Devin Goda caught four touchdown passes for 225 yards, both of which were school-record totals. Senior quarterback Cody Endres passed for four touchdowns and 397 yards. Endres’ passing yardage total was the second-highest ever recorded by a Rock quarterback. The Rock, who took a 34-0 lead before Lock Haven got on the scoreboard, outgained the hosts by a 564-297 margin in total yards behind a 488-yard passing attack.

Grove City 21, St. Vincent 16

GROVE CITY, Pa.

Grove City was led by a defense that produced four takeaways and four quarterback sacks. Junior cornerback Kurt Devlin tied a single-game Grove City record by intercepting three passes while senior cornerback Aaron Palmieri) also intercepted a pass. Senior defensive end Zack Patterson posted a pair of quarterback sacks for the Wolverines, who limited Saint Vincent (3-4, 2-3 PAC) to a 3-for-13 effort on third down in the game. Grove City forged a 7-7 tie with 14:37 left in the first half when senior tailback Blaine Miller scored on a 2-yard touchdown plunge. Grove City took a 13-7 lead when sophomore quarterback Brian Pell fired a 17-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Anthony Ritchie. Saint Vincent outgained Grove City 298-227.

Thomas More 41, Bethany 21

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.

Despite outgaining doubling up Thomas More in first downs, Bethany’s hopes for an upset were dashed by big plays, as all six Saints’ touchdowns were from 38 yards or longer. The Bison outgained the Saints 74-3 until the final play of the first quarter, yet trailed 21-7. Sophomore quarterback Matt Grimard flicked a 3-yard scoring pass to sophomore RB Nico Irizarry (Youngstown/Ursuline) for Bethany’s first score. Grimard led the Bethany offense by setting career-highs in every passing category. His 33 completions were the second-most in single-game history, while his 56 attempts were the third-highest total. Grimard finished with 312 passing yards and his three scoring tosses give him 13 for the season.
