Calcagnis’ 65th joins family at Canfield dinner

Eugene and Antonette Calcagni of Poland and their family celebrated the couple’s 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 17 with a family dinner at AngeNetta’s Restaurant in Canfield.

Hosting the event were the couple’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Calcagnis’ children and their spouses are Jean and Gene Wargo of New Middletown, Joe and Cyndi Calcagni of Boardman, and the late Joseph A. Calcagni.

The family includes six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The former Antonette Popio married Mr. Calcagni on Sept. 14, 1946, at Immaculate Conception Church in Youngstown. They are members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown.

Mrs. Calcagni, a homemaker, is a member of the church festival committee and its senior citizens club.

Mr. Calcagni worked 15 years for James A. Henderson Co. and 30 years for Allstate Insurance Co., both in Youngstown, retiring in 1986 as a property unit manager.

He is an officer of the church’s Vestibule Club and a member of its festival committee and senior citizens club. He also is a member of Italian-Americans Veterans Post 3, the Morra League and the National LSM Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with the Amphibious Forces in the South Pacific.
