Trumbull County Board of Elections welcomed Mark Alberini, its newest board member, earlier this week as it had a reorganization meeting to select Sandra Stabile Harwood as its new chairwoman.

Alberini, 50, of Howland, is a sales representative for CorVel, a managed health-care company. He is a former schoolteacher and also worked 10 years for technology company Siemens.

Alberini and his wife have three daughters, two in college and one in high school. He is the son of Fred Alberini, a former Trumbull County Democratic Party chairman and former elections board member.

Alberini filled the vacancy on the board created by the death of Christ Michelakis, who died Sept. 3 after a lengthy illness.

Also at the meeting, the board adopted a new in-person, early-voting deadline for voters who are not members of the military.

It will be 6 p.m. Nov. 4, which is the Friday before the Nov. 8 general election. In the past, such voting was allowed part of the Saturday before the election and on the Monday before the election.

The new deadline is to conform with an advisory from Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.
