Denver couple to wed here on New Year’s Eve

Joan and Walter Purnell of North Jackson are announcing the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter, Christine Purnell, to Kevin Gowdy, both of Denver, Colo. The prospective groom is a son of Sharon Gowdy of Denver.

Invitations will be extended for a late afternoon ceremony Dec. 31 at Smith Corners United Methodist Church, Austintown, and a reception immediately afterward at The Fifth Season Banquet Center in Mineral Ridge.

The bride-elect is a case manager at Rose Medical Center in Denver after earning a bachelor’s degree in social work from Ohio State University and a master’s in social administration from Case Western Reserve University.

The prospective groom is a paraprofessional for Denver Public Schools while pursuing a special education license at Metro State College of Denver, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science.
