The Junior Women’s League of Canfield sponsored its 42nd annual Fall Market on the Green Sept. 17 with more than 140 vendors offering a large variety of items, including crafts, fine arts, a farmers market, jewelry, clothing and collectibles.
The organization also offered a 50/50 raffle throughout the day.
According to Cari Gulas, Fall Market chairperson, the event is the main fundraiser of the year for the organization.
“The Fall Market funds three $1,000 scholarships for Canfield seniors who win an essay contest that is held every April,” Gulas said.
In addition to the vendors, the Junior Women’s League of Canfield offered a childrens’ area with pumpkin decorating and face painting. Volunteers from the Junior Women’s League of Canfield and the Boardman/Poland Juniorettes, the next generation of the Junior Women’s League, painted faces and helped more than 75 children decorate pumpkins.
Parks Garden Center provided the pumpkins at a discount to the Junior Women’s League of Canfield and Cornersburg Dairy Queen, Canfield Bob Evans, Canfield Giant Eagle and Nemenz IGA donated supplies to the organization for the event.
The Junior Women’s League of Canfield is a service organization that holds monthly meetings. They perform service projects for the community throughout the year such as collecting books, collecting money for UNICEF and holding canned food drives for the Rescue Mission and other food banks.
