Singing Star contest finals are Sunday
Youngstown
The DeYor Singing Star finals will be at noon Sunday at Powers Auditorium.
The top eight singers, plus the People’s Choice winner, will each sing three songs for a panel of judges who will choose a winner.
Admission is $5.
The winner of the competition, which began in September, will receive $5,000 and will perform with Easy Street Productions in its new show, “Legends,” at the Singing Star celebration dinner and performance at DeYor Center for the Performing Arts Nov. 13.
Tickets for the dinner and performance are $95 ($30 for the performance only).

‘The Orphanage’ at Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.
Westminster College’s Jake Erhardt International Film Series will show the 2007 Spanish film “El Orfanato (The Orphanage)” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of Mc-Kelvey Campus Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
A short introduction will be given and a discussion will follow.
The film is rated R for some disturbing content and may not be suitable for younger viewers.
MTV sets dates for two awards shows
NEW YORK
MTV has set the dates for next year’s MTV Movie and Video Music Awards.
The MTV Movie Awards will air live from Los Angeles on June 3. After an August date in Los Angeles this year, the VMAs will move to Sept. 9.
A host city hasn’t been announced. The show also will air live on the network.
