Market Street celebrated its Spartan Pride with a school tailgate party on Sept. 30. PTA President Lisa Anzevino helped plan the event which brought together the Market Street staff, students, and families.

“The PTA has been throwing a tailgate party for the Spartans since 1997 and we just want to offer some fun for the kids on behalf of our organization. Although the high school is a good distance away, we know that any support for our Spartans is still felt and appreciated across Boardman,” Anzevino said.

The event offered guests free food and plenty of camaraderie. The PTA entertained with bounce houses, an open dance floor and a rousing performance from the Boardman Glenwood Middle School cheerleaders.

Baskets created by each Market Street classroom raised money for the PTA during their basket raffle and every student received a T-shirt displaying the Market Street motto for the year, “I Believe in Me.”

For dreamers who hope to be athletes on the Boardman football team one day, the PTA offered a football portrait where students could try out their best Heisman poses. Although there were many fun ways to get sidetracked at the event, the Market Street students knew they were there to support their Spartans.

“I’m going to go to the game tonight and yell, ‘Market Street rocks’ and ‘Go Spartans,’”said student Mia Subramaniah.
