Ed Port recovering from more surgery

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown resident Ed Port, 41, was in the intensive-care unit Thursday in Chicago’s St. Joseph Hospital after a second surgery to remove tumors. Margo Schafer, a hospital spokeswoman, said Port was alert and doing well after the 10-hour Wednesday surgery.

Port, who suffers from neurofibromatosis, underwent the first, most-extensive surgery in June when the large tumor that covered much of his face was removed.

In this procedure, plastic surgeon Dr. McKay McKinnon was to remove smaller tumors above his ear and on the back of his head, reshape the left ear and work on Port’s left cheek.
