Document shredding is Saturday at park

Mill Creek MetroParks, with the help of Alpha Omega Document Management, will dispose of residents’ old bank statements, bills or personal documents.
Residents can bring up to five boxes of papers to be shredded from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mill Creek Golf Course on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.
Alpha Omega Document Management is offering the service for free, but donations are appreciated. All money raised will benefit the new Creek Practice and Learning Center that is under construction at the golf course.
‘Bully Me’ Saturday

The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown has received a matching grant from the Raymond John Wean Foundation to support the Cocoa Mocha LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trangender, Questioning, Allies) youth group.
Dreams of Hope, a Pittsburgh-based youth theater for LGBTA youth and allies, will present “Bully Me” at 8 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1105 Elm St. Admission is free to those 21 and younger. A $5 donation is requested for all others. A reception will follow.
Neighborhood SUCCESS, a program of The Raymond John Wean Foundation, was created to support grass-roots groups in small community development projects.
Robbed and shot
WARREN
A 29-year-old North Road man reported he was shot in the leg during a robbery that occurred as he walked on Highland Avenue near Maple Avenue Southwest at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday. Two men, one with a rifle, appeared from behind a house. One of the men, who police said was black, in his 20s, with a beard and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, robbed him of $200 and shot him in the leg. The victim flagged down a car and got a ride to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

WARREN
A 20-year-old Maryland Avenue Northwest woman reported being robbed at gunpoint by four men wearing bandanas on their faces at 7:26 p.m. Wednesday. The woman said she opened the door part way when she heard a knock, then saw one of four people at the door push it open.
The person holding a handgun asked the victim, “Where’s the money at?” The woman was able to call 911 while the four searched the apartment. They fled without getting anything, police said.
Afternoon of the Arts

In celebration of the arts and artists in our community, the D.D. & Velma Davis Family YMCA off McClurg Road will host “An Afternoon of the Arts” from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. The free event features live music, poetry readings, dance, face painting and authors. Visitors can watch local artists work and buy their works. An art exhibition and work by local artists and Y members will be in the Gallery.
