Union Square Plaza to add 2 businesses

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

There will be two additions to Union Square Plaza by year’s end.

Joe Bell, director of corporate communications for The Cafaro Co., which owns the plaza, told The Vindicator a new Internet caf and barbecue restaurant will debut in the structure at the corner of Gypsy Lane and Belmont Avenue near the county line.

Safe Haven Sweepstakes, the Internet caf , will occupy a 3,100-square-foot space next to Dale Cleaners. The caf should be open by Dec. 1, Bell said.

The company is spending about $78,000 on renovations.

The new restaurant, Guy’s Barbecue, likely will open by month’s end. It will be in the space formerly occupied by Phoenician Grill, which closed at the end of August.

Save-A-Lot opened in the plaza in August.
