Police question man about fatal shooting

Staff report

WARREN

A man arrested by police on weapons charges also was questioned about the Sunday morning shooting death of a Youngstown-Road bar manager.

At 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Stanley L. Thomas, 37, was shot to death in the parking lot of Clancy’s Pub, 2461 Youngstown Road SE.

At 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Warren police and the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Michael L. Bobbitt, 22, of Palmyra Road Southwest, during a traffic stop at Randolph Street and Commerce Avenue Northwest.

Police questioned Bobbitt about the homicide because they think he has knowledge of the crime, police said.

Bobbitt was taken to Trumbull County jail and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm after police found a weapon in the car with him Tuesday.

Bobbitt pleaded innocent to the charges Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court and is in the jail without eligibility to make bond. He returns to court Tuesday.
