Harness-racing track in Austintown put on fast track

COLUMBUS — Horse racing tracks in the state can now begin applying to relocate, under an executive order signed by Gov. John Kasich and emergency rules adopted today by the Ohio Racing Commission.

The step would allow Penn National to submit the necessary paperwork to move a racetrack from Toledo to Austintown.

The rules are part of a larger agreement between Kasich and racetrack and casino owners that will enable tracks to offer lottery commission-controlled electronic slot machines on their premises.
