WOMEN AND CIVIL WAR
Kelly Selby will give a free program titled “Ohio Women and the Civil War Home Front” at 7 p.m. today at the Melnick Medical Museum, 655 Wick Ave.
Parking is available behind the museum and in the Arms Family Museum lot across the street.
This presentation demonstrates the importance of Ohio’s women by exploring their wartime activities on the home front.
Selby is an assistant professor at Walsh University and has done extensive research in the history of 19th-century war and society.
BENEFIT SKI PARTY
A preseason ski party at McMenamy’s Restaurant and Banquet Center, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles, at 6 p.m. today will benefit the Warren Family Mission.
The free party will feature representatives from many area ski resorts giving out information. Prizes will be awarded.
Those attending are asked to bring nonperishable items for the mission to help area families in need.
HOME-COOKED SUPPER
Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will have a home-cooked supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today.
The meal will be individual chicken pot pie, pirogi, potatoes, salad, roll, homemade desserts and beverage.
Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12 and free for children under 5. Carryouts will be available.
IMMUNIZATION CLINIC
The well-child immunization clinic is today at 11 a.m. in the Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St., in the city building. A $10 fee is charged per child.
Parents are reminded to bring a copy of their child’s immunization record; and a parent or guardian must accompany children younger than 18.
Parents must preregister their child before the clinic. Call 330-545-6048 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
