Hernandez golf outing benefits cancer society

VIENNA

The Hernandez family of Mineral Ridge sponsored a memorial golf outing Sept. 17 at Candywood Golf Course and donated net profits to the American Cancer Society.

The family has suffered several losses of loved ones to cancer and wanted to do something to make a difference. In all, they garnered 23 hole sponsors and 98 golfers.

With the help of a basket auction, 50-50 raffle and games on the course, the family was able to donate $4,036.32 to the American Cancer Society.
