SATURDAY’S BIG EAST FOOTBALL GAMES

Utah 26, Pittsburgh 14

PITTSBURGH

John White ran for 171 yards and Coleman Petersen kicked four field goals in the tricky Heinz Field winds to lead Utah by reeling Pittsburgh. The Utes (3-3) snapped a two-game losing streak behind the legs of White and Petersen and an impressive defensive effort to improve to 9-0 all-time against current members of the Big East. Petersen, who’d made four field goals all year coming in, converted kicks of 23, 34, 39 and 45 yards in winds that gusted over 30 mph. The Panthers managed just 120 total yards, turned it over three times and a re-configured offensive line allowed quarterbacks Trey Anderson and Tino Sunseri to get sacked six times.

Cincinnati 25, Louisville 16

Isaiah Pead made two quick cutbacks and ran 50 yard for the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter, rallying Cincinnati in the Big East opener for both teams at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati (5-1) got its first victory in three games at the Bengals’ stadium, overcoming four fumbles and Zach Collaros’ costly interception. Mike Evans returned an interception 63 yards for a touchdown and a 16-7 lead with 6 seconds left in the half.

Brandon Jones blocked a go-ahead 34-yard field goal attempt by Jon Teague with 4:43 to play and Rutgers won its fourth straight game.
