Walter Horodyski of Kinsman was honored with the Bill Penn Memorial Award, the highest conservation award handed out by the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District.

Horodyski received the award at the district’s 61st annual meeting at the Trumbull County Agriculture & Family Education Center.

“Mr. Horodyski’s support of natural resources, recreation, outdoors, farm bureau and conservation activities over the years made him very well deserving,” said Mike Wilson, SWCD administrator. The award is named after Bill Penn, district conservationist from 1956 to 1981.

The 2011 winner of the George Sharec Memorial Conservation Farm of the Year award went to Floyd Davis of Red Basket Farm in Kinsman.

Jenna DePizzo of Cortland was named the Volunteer of the Year, and local television reporter Peggy Sinkovich of 33-WYTV News was named Outstanding Media Person. James Allen of Allenway Farm in Southington was named Cooperator of the Year.
