Author will sign her children’s book

Author Connie Randolph will appear from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday for a book signing at Broadview Acres Country Canine Resort, 419 Salt Springs Road.

Randolph, a Salineville resident, will sign copies of her children’s book “The Wagging Tails of Casper Joe: Book Two.” In the book, Casper Joe goes camping, endures a snowstorm and goes on his first vacation. But when he falls asleep and begins dreaming, a real adventure begins.

Sharon Flake to visit 2 local libraries

POLAND

Sharon Flake, a young-adult author, will visit the Poland and Newport libraries Monday for girls age 7 through 12.

She will be at the Poland library at 10 a.m. and at Newport at 12:30 and 6 p.m.

Flake, who resides in Pittsburgh, has won multiple awards for her fiction, including the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent Award for “The Skin I’m In.”

She will talk with girls about such topics as the day-to-day life of a writer, self-esteem and writing as a career, and she’ll answer questions and sign autographs.

Area author releases novel

EAST LIVERPOOL

Cathy Seckman, a former Vindicator correspondent, has had her first novel published by Cool Well Press Inc.

“Weirdo World,” a young-adult fantasy, is about Hunter Davisson, a 12-year-old boy who is accidentally sent back in time to 1963, where there are no computers or virtual games. Boys ride actual bikes, swim in actual rivers and know all the rules of baseball. Hunter finds friends to show him the ropes, and the boys try to find a way to send Hunter back to the present.
