WARREN
Atty. Greg Meyers of the Ohio Public Defender’s Office served as lead defense counsel Friday at the first pretrial hearing for Louis R. Mann, 31, charged with killing his parents.
In addition to Meyers, , who has served as defense counsel in 60 to 70 capital murder cases, Mann will be represented by Matthew Pentz, head of the Trumbull County office of the Ohio Public Defender, and David T. Rouzzo of the public defender’s office.
If convicted, Mann could get the death penalty.
Handling the case for the prosecutor’s office are Dennis Watkins, Trumbull County prosecutor, and assistant prosecutors Chris Becker and Gabriel Wildman.
Mann entered an innocent plea during the short hearing, and Judge W. Wyatt McKay ordered Mann held without eligibility to make bond.
Mann told police he strangled his mother, Frances Mann, 53, with a clothes line during an argument, then took a shotgun from his father, Philip Mann Sr., 59, hit him in the head with a flashlight and shot him.
Their bodies were discovered the next day, Sept. 30, in the Jefferson Street Southwest home where all three Manns were living.
