The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center School of Practical Nursing had its sixth annual graduation ceremony earlier this month.
Twenty five graduates were honored and received certificates of graduation and nursing pins. They now are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam to become licensed as practical nurses.
Kelly Weikart, CCCTC Adult director, gave congratulations and introduced the graduates, and with Willard Adkins, CCCTC superintendent, diplomas were presented to each.
The inspirational graduation address was given by John Shedosky, a registered nurse who is a 2006 CCCTC PN graduate and has since earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Students were pinned by a family member or friend and the PN program director, Carolyn McCune.
Several awards were presented to the graduates. Patricia Tallent received the Award for Academic Excellence; Devin Black received the CCCTC Award for Clinical Performance; and Stephanie Heslen received the Spirit of Nursing Award.
CCCTC School of Practical Nursing is an evening program with classes Monday through Friday and will begin in January to take applications for the next class to start in September 2012.
