Warrant issued

NEWTON FALLS

A warrant for felony robbery has been issued for the arrest of Raymond G. Sugar, 28, of West Middletown Road, Canfield, in connection with an attempted robbery at the Pamida store, 2300 Milton Blvd.

Sugar is suspected of being one of two people — one male, one female — who took video games from the store at 7:36 p.m. Sept. 26.

Police said store personnel confronted the two regarding the video games, and one of the two held a can of pepper spray to the face of an employee and threatened to spray him.

The employee grabbed the video games, valued at $540, and the suspects fled in a black Pontiac with foil over the license plate, police said. An employee removed the foil and obtained a license plate number.

Anyone with information on Sugar is asked to call the Newton Falls Police Department.

Dog kills chihuahua

WARREN

A large dog was taken to the Trumbull County Dog Kennel in Howland after it attacked a small, elderly chihuahua on Laird Avenue Southeast Wednesday afternoon, killing it.

The chihuahua’s owner said she put her dog on its leash in front of her house. She heard a commotion outside and discovered her dog was missing.

A neighbor described a large dog that had attacked the chihuahua, police said. The owner recognized the dog’s description and went to Belle Street Southeast, a half-block away, and saw the chihuahua dead in the driveway, having been viciously mauled.

When she tried to retrieve the chihuahua, a large brown and white dog charged the woman. Neighbors intervened and secured the large dog to its chain. No human injuries were reported.

Officers observed blood on the large dog’s snout.

Attempts to contact the large dog’s owner were unsuccessful Wednesday.

Gunfire during fight

WARREN

Two men got into an argument at the AM/PM Food Mart, 1744 W. Market St., at 10:41 p.m. Wednesday, with one of them firing six times at the other.

Store video shows a black male in a blue stocking cap milling around the store. About 90 seconds later, a second black male wearing a gray track suit entered the store. The two recognized each other and began to scuffle.

The first man pulled out a handgun and fired six shots at the other man as the two ran around the perimeter of the store, the shots breaking the glass doors on the coolers that ring the store.

Police reported there were no injuries.

Both men fled just before officers arriving. A handgun was recovered.
