Weathersfield Township will begin a traffic-sign replacement project with new, highly reflective signs in a five-year program to start in the Heaton-Chute neighborhood, trustees said.

Old signs will be taken down in the Heaton-Chute area, a smaller area of the township located in the northernmost section of Weathersfield around the state Route 169 and Deforest Road area, for the project’s first phase at a cost of $4,200.

The new signs are being purchased from Municipal Signs and Sales of Columbiana.

Trustee Chairman James Stoddard said old signs can be taken down and re-faced with reflective covering, which will reduce the cost of purchasing all new signs.

The Mineral Ridge area of the township is scheduled to be done next year.

Trustees also reminded residents the eighth annual Community Spirit Day Parade will be Oct. 30.
