The ribbon was cut on the township’s new $6.5 million Holiday Inn Express and Suites.
Representatives from the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and hotel manager KayLou King did the ceremonial ribbon- cutting Wednesday morning at the hotel, 5555 Cerni Place, just off the Interstate 80 West on-ramp.
Construction crews broke ground on the multimillion-dollar project in July 2010, and it opened for business in June.
Trustees Jim Davis and David Ditzler did not attend the ribbon-cutting and declined to comment. Trustee Lisa Oles was not available to comment Wednesday evening.
The 50,000-square-foot hotel has 86 guest rooms, soundproof windows to block highway-traffic noise and will be 20 percent more energy-efficient than other area hotels, according to a news release from the chamber.
Each room comes equipped with flat-screen LCD televisions, high-speed Internet, microwaves and refrigerators.
Other features include an Express Start Breakfast Bar, fresh-baked cookies daily, indoor pool with whirlpool and a fitness room, the news release said.
The new Holiday Inn offers rates starting at $108 per night. For more information, call 330-505-5700.
