Kiraly Tool and Die Co. is set to embark on a $500,000 expansion project at its Crescent Street shop.
“We still want to continue growing in the business,” said Steve Kiraly, president. “There’s plenty of work out there.”
Kiraly is a custom manufacturer of fabrication tooling and Computer Numerical Controlled machine parts that primarily services companies with $10 million or more in annual sales.
It will expand its current 5,800-square foot location by 4,278 square feet. The construction project — contracted out to Youngstown-based The Murphy Contracting Co. — will cost approximately $230,000.
The additional $270,000 in funds will be used toward new machinery such as CNC machines.
The company will break ground sometime next week. The project’s completion is expected by the end of this year.
Kiraly, which employs 10, also expects to add three or four new positions as a result of the expansion. Those positions include tool-and-die makers and machinists.
It’s the second expansion project in four years for Kiraly. In 2008, it expanded by approximately 1,800 square feet and moved its offices around to clear its shop floor.
Kiraly, which first opened for business in late 1999, has accomplished sales growth every year since, with the exception of 2009.
Its sales this year are expected to climb nearly 20 percent, from $1.17 million to $1.4 million thanks to improvements in the company’s in-shop efficiency.
Kiraly is a member of the newly formed Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition, which consists of more than a dozen local businesses aiming to raise support to address their work-force needs.
