Hispanic heritage will be celebrated

The McDonough Museum of Art, 525 Wick Ave., will be the site of a Hispanic Heritage Celebration from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The event, sponsored by L.U.N.A., (Latinas United Networking Association) will feature music, dance performances, children’s activities, cultural displays, vendor booths and refreshments.

The event is free, but those attending are asked to take a canned food item to donate to the Hispanic student food drive.

Also, L.U.N.A. has scheduled a networking session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Helen Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave.

A guest will demonstrate how to make sofrito, the seasoning base for many Hispanic recipes. Attendees will leave with a sofrito sample.

Refreshments will be served.

A fee of $5 will be charged; there is no charge for current members. Registration is requested because seating is limited.
