FARRELL, PA.

A 21-year-old Pennsylvania man was hit over the head with a bottle and shot in the chest during a fight late Friday or early Saturday at the Farrell Speed Check Food Mart at 1301 Sharon-New Castle Road. The incident, being investigated by Southwest Mercer County Regional Police, was reported at 12:03 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, Aaron Griffin, address and condition unavailable, told police he was leaving the store when he was hit with the bottle during a fight occurring in the parking lot; then when he got into his car to leave, he was shot in the chest.

Griffin took himself to UPMC Farrell and then was life-flighted to a Pittsburgh hospital for further treatment. Police are asking anyone who was in the parking lot to contact them at 724-983-2720.

Residents who are elderly or considered low-income and seeking legal advice are invited to a session from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 to Newport Branch Library, 3730 Market St., Youngstown, according to a news release from Community Legal Aid Services.

Pre-registration is required and is from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. A document-preparation clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Legal Aid Offices, 11 Central Square, 7th Floor in Youngstown. Call the help line at 800-998-9454 to pre-register.
