Friends of the Community Library of the Shenango Valley are having a book sale Wednesday through Saturday at 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon, Pa. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 4: 30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Proceeds are donated to the library.

New Waterford Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Oct. 22 at the New Waterford Eagles, 3614 Creek Road. There will be a 50-50 raffle, bake sale and cash games after the tournament. Food will be provided. $30 is good for $3,000 in chips; $50, for $5,000 in chips.

Lake Milton Presbyterian Church, 942 Grandview Ave., will have an Apple Butter Fest all day Saturday, and all are invited to come help stir the apple butter in a copper kettle over an open fire. The apple butter will be for sale along with baked apple goodies, including pies, dumplings and cookies. Also for sale will be hot dogs, sausage sandwiches funnel cakes and more. NIGHTS AT RACES

Shepherd of the Valley-Howland will have its first chili cook-off and parade of homes at the facility, 4100 N. River Road, from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
