Ursuline falls to St. Peter’s in Big Apple

Jesse Curry rushed for 98 yards in the Ursuline High football team’s 31-21 loss to New Jersey’s St. Peter’s Prep in a game played at Fordham University in The Bronx.
Curry scored on a 41-yard run for the Irish (1-5). He also threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Davis that gave the Irish a 21-17 lead in the third quarter.
St. Peter’s responded with two touchdowns to end the game. First, Jared Clayton scored on a 4-yard run late in the third quarter for a 24-21 lead.
Quarterback Brandon Napoleon hit Charlie Callinan with a 7-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter.
Irish quarterback Chris Durkin completed six of 15 passes for 93 yards. He also threw an interception and the Irish lost two fumbles.
Davis caught four passes for 73 yards. He also scored on a 14-yard run in the second quarter.
Napoleon completed nine of 16 passes for 110 yards. Clayton rushed 19 times for 136 yards.
Mathews 50, Lutheran East 22

All of Mathews’ touchdowns came on runs except Mark Fordley’s 15-yard interception return as the Mustangs (2-5) beat Lutheran East in a non-Northeast Athletic Conference game.
Fordley also scored on runs of 32 yards and 1 yard and the junior tailback finished with 75 yards on seven carries.
Also gaining part of Mathews’ 297 rushing yards were Joe Siefert, a senior tailback who had 62 yards on 14 carries, senior quarterback Zach Motts who had 69 yards on 10 rushes and senior tailback Craig Hunt with 45 yards on six carries.
Hunt had a 17-yard touchdown run, R.J. Boyd scored on a 5-yard run and Zach Motts and Ashton Motts had a TD run apiece.
Wyatt Ford kicked six PATs and Zach Motts ran a two-point conversion.
Mathews’ other win was over Windham in Week 2

Robert Seger caught an 85-yard touchdown pass from Dominic Naples for the Eagles (4-3, 2-2 North Coast League). Naples also connected with John Hilty for a 63-yard score.
