Surprise party marks Hierros’ 50th anniversary

Stephen and Rose Marie Hierro of Boardman were surprised with a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for family and friends Sept. 10 at St. Luke Hall, hosted by their children, Stephanie (Robert) Mueller of Strongsville and Stephen (Sarah) Hierro of Brook Park, and their grandchildren, Sophia and Gabriel Hierro.

The couple also were honored Sept. 11 with a family dinner at Holiday Inn.

Mr. Hierro and the former Rose Marie DePinto were married Sept. 9, 1961, at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown.

Mr. Hierro worked for Boardman Fire Department for 33 years, retiring in 1998. He also served four years in the Air Force and 30 years in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1993. He serves on Boardman’s Civil Service Board.

Mrs. Hierro was a secretary at the former Union National Bank, Youngstown, and was a secretary for Goeller Insurance Adjusters.

The couple are members of St. Luke Church.
