VIENNA

The Roofers Joint Apprenticeship Program will accept applications for its next class of roofers later this fall.

Applications will be accepted from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Nov. 28, 29, 30 and Dec. 1 and 2 at 1371 Youngstown-Kingsville Road.

Those interested need to be at least 18, be a high-school graduate or have equivalent education, be physically capable of performing trade work, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.

Applicants need to bring the following: a transcript of high-school grades or GED test scores, military service certificate or completion, if applicable, and a birth certificate or drivers’ license.

Inventors meeting

LIBERTY

The Youngstown & Warren Inventors Association meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Liberty Township Administration Building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Guest speakers will be Vic Rubenstein, chairman of Rubenstein Associates of Liberty, and Anthony Budak, CEO of TimeBank Mahoning Watershed.

Rubenstein will discuss the Internet, the first major breakthrough for inventors.

Budak will speak on the service-exchange program the time bank offers to inventors and the community. There is no charge to attend.

Nonprofits working with businesses

BOARDMAN

The Mahoning/Shenango Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals will host a program and luncheon titled “How to Build Relationships with Small Businesses” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.

This educational session will help nonprofits learn what types of charities businesses are willing to support and how to partner with those businesses.

The target audience is staff and volunteers involved in fundraising for nonprofit organizations.

Tricia Ferry, human resources manager at Valley Electrical Consolidated, and Mike Walton, CEO of Jamestown Coating Technologies, will give presentations.

Laser treatment

AUSTINTOWN

Austintown Podiatry Associates Inc. now has the FDA-approved laser treatment for fungal toenail infections.

The 10-minute procedure does not involve removal of the toenail, and studies have shown it has a 70 percent success rate.
