Protesters in Cincinnati gathered on downtown’s fountain square Saturday and say they plan on occupying it either indefinitely or until arrested.

One of the group’s organizers told The Associated Press that a small group of demonstrators plan on camping out in the area, though the gathering’s permit lasted only until 1 a.m.

“There may be a chance people get arrested tonight, and if that’s the case, we’ll just keep coming back,” Kristin Brand said. She said the morning started with 250 people marching around downtown to the square, but at its peak, the crowd numbered more than 800.

In Cleveland, demonstrators were on their third day of occupation. Thirty-four spent Thursday night on a sidewalk, and some told The Plain Dealer newspaper that they intend to camp out indefinitely.

Protesters carried signs with slogans such as “Where’s our loophole?” “Greed will be the end of America” and even “Vote no on issue 2 [the repeal effort for Ohio’s controversial new collective-bargaining law]” throughout a Cleveland park.

These demonstrations have been popping up around Ohio in the wake of the “Occupy Wall Street” movement in New York protesting economic inequality.
