Mahoning County Farm Bureau will honor volunteers at the bureau’s annual meeting and buffet dinner Thursday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St.

Dinner starts at 7 p.m. with the program and business meeting to follow. The guest speaker will be a representative from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Oil and Gas, who will talk about the agency’s role in monitoring, inspecting and enforcement of gas/oil drilling.

Electronic records

Marsha Bucciarelli of Mahoning Valley Electronic Health Records will discuss the uses of electronic health records at 7 p.m. Tuesday during a meeting of the Mercer County Chiropractic Society at Jess’ Restaurant, 3640 E. Open house

WARREN

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, the Warren Fire Department will have its annual open house from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Central Fire Station, 111 South St. Families are invited to tour the fire station and its facilities, including trucks and equipment.

Firefighters also will perform demonstrations such as vehicle-extrication, vehicle fire and safe cooking.

Activities are planned for younger children such as water-spraying from a firefighting nozzle, helicopter landing and viewing of antique firetrucks.

Summit on Aging

Judge Thomas A. Swift of Trumbull County Probate Court will have this year’s Trumbull County Summit on Aging and 31st annual Probate Practice Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Oct. 21 at the St. Demetrios Community Center, 3223 Atlantic Street NE.

The seminar provides continuing-education credits to nurses, counselors, social workers and attorneys as well as providing an educational tool to law enforcement, health-care workers and court employees.

Speakers will be Terrence O’Donnell, Ohio Supreme Court justice; Tracy J. Plouck, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health; Bonnie Kantor-Burman, director of the Ohio Department of Aging; Dr. Marian Schuda; Armon Shayesteh, Ph.D.; Frederick J. Frese, Ph.D.; and Judge Swift.

Golf course opening

CORTLAND

Mosquito Lake State Park will have a grand opening for its Squirrel Run Disc Golf Course at Mosquito Lake State Park at noon next Sunday. The course is near the dog park and beach.

Disc golf and other activities will be available after the opening. The course is at the state park, 1439 state Route 305.
