A central Pennsylvania woman who fatally shot her disabled daughter then turned the gun on herself has been found guilty but mentally ill.

Dauphin County jurors returned the verdict Thursday in the trial of 62-year-old Betty Scott

She was accused of shooting her sleeping 40-year-old daughter Sebrina in the head in their Susquehanna Township home in July 2010. Scott then shot herself in the torso, leaving her partially paralyzed.

Defense attorney William Spade said Betty Scott has a documented history of psychosis. She will serve life in prison that will include mental-health treatment.
