Outreach ministry plans grand opening

Second Chance Community Outreach Ministry will host its grand opening on Oct. 22 at its new location, 1747 S. Raccoon Road, Suite No. 1.

Doors will open at 4 p.m. with a pasta dinner at 5 and music/worship activities at 6. Singer/songwriter Jenah Shank will provide music.

The center will provide at least one free hot meal monthly, usually the third Saturday. The center will be open Saturdays for a time of fellowship, snacks, activities and worship.

The nonprofit ministry, which has existed three years, provides companionship, fellowship and a free meal. Second Chance previously provided monthly meals at Upper Room Ministry but is now expanding to offer a food pantry, clothing cupboard, weekly Bible studies and other services.

Donations of canned food and clothing, along with monetary contributions, are needed. Volunteers and Christian musicians/artists willing to share their talents and time also are needed.

Saturday: Poetry reading with author Kathleen Higham and Betty Lintela; music by Fred Lee.

Oct. 15: Music by Flo Gadd and refreshments.

Oct. 29: Fall fest with music by Chris Mowery and doughnuts and apple cider.
