POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent police activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Sept. 28

Criminal damaging: A car’s windshield and passenger-side windows were broken in the 500 block of Stull Avenue.

Fraud: A Washington Avenue woman reported getting a letter from a collection agency stating she owes $1,702 on an account that apparently someone had opened in her name.

Sept. 29

Recovered property: A South Market Street woman found an 8-inch hunting knife and sheath in her flower bed.

Identity fraud: A Townsend Avenue man discovered $220 was subtracted from his account, prompting him to contact his bank and another business that stated he was under obligation to pay back a loan he had never authorized.

Theft: A Church Hill Road man reported the theft of two bicycles from a carport. The loss came to $2,300.

Theft: A $500 iPad device was missing from a garage in the 900 block of Shannon Road.

Sept. 30

Aggravated menacing: An East Broadway Avenue man said his son-in-law made threats, including one to kill him.

Possible theft: A North Highland Avenue man reported a prescription was misplaced or stolen.

Oct. 1

Theft: A Sony PlayStation 3 system was taken from an apartment in the 300 block of Elruth Court.

Oct. 2

Assaults: Police responded to a fight at Girard High School stadium, 1244 Shannon Road, in which three people reported having been assaulted.

Assault: A disorderly-conduct charge was pending against a Girard boy after a fight in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue. The boy admitted coming to the home to fight another boy, a report said.

Burglary: To a residence in the 400 block of North St. Clair Avenue, from which a 60-inch TV and an Xbox 360 system were stolen.

Oct. 3

Harassment: A Parkview Avenue woman told officers a neighbor has engaged in a pattern of harassment toward her and visitors to her home.

Theft: An East Main Street man noticed $140 missing from his residence.

Oct. 4

Burglary: Took place in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue through a rear door. Stolen was a $500 flat-screen TV.

Oct. 5

Damage: A Cherry Drive man said neighbors have driven through and damaged part of his lawn.

Sept. 30

Harassment: A Grandview Avenue woman reported her in-laws have been threatening and harassing her online.

Theft: Someone in a truck illegally dumped garbage in a trash bin in the 6200 block of West Liberty Street.

Oct. 1

Recovered property: A vehicle’s rear license-plate was found in the 1100 block of Wick-Campbell Road.

Theft: Halloween decorations were taken from a residence in the 200 block of Jean Drive.

Theft: A boys 20-inch bicycle was removed from a garage in the 30 block of Hillview Drive.

Oct. 3

Fraud: A Creed Street woman told police of being a victim.

Harassment: A man in the 300 block of North Main Street reported receiving such calls.

LIBERTY

Sept. 29

Bad check: An Adamsville, Ala., woman reportedly wrote a $505 check for rooms at a Belmont Avenue motel before the check was returned for nonsufficient funds.

Arrest: Youngstown police apprehended Brittany N. Jordan, then handed her to township authorities. Jordan, of 1967 Donald Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding theft charge from Girard Municipal Court.

Theft: Two men stole a welcome-mat from Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave.

Assault: Police responded to a fight at a Belmont Avenue restaurant, where a 16-year-old boy alleged an employee punched him several times in the face and shoulder. The worker said the boy had pushed him first.

Sept. 30

Arrest: Police responding to a vehicle fire near a Belmont Avenue motel took 42-year-old Scott L. Kifer into custody. Kifer, of 1729 Tibbetts-Wick Road, Girard, was wanted on a warrant from Hubbard.

Identity theft: A woman at her Belmont Avenue bank discovered seven unauthorized transactions to her debit card totaling $702 that originated from a Fort Worth, Texas, store.

Damage: A Cortland woman in the 3800 block of Belmont Avenue reported a large stone had shattered her vehicle’s rear window.

Harassment: A worker for a Belmont Avenue store told police an elderly man has been paying unwanted attention to her, in part by visiting the business several times a day.

Oct. 1

Theft: A man stole razor blades and toothpaste from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza, though the store declined to file charges. The merchandise was returned.

Theft: A Rose Avenue woman reported newspapers have been taken from her box on five occasions.

Oct. 3

Menacing: A 13-year-old township boy alleged his father has sent text messages threatening to harm the teen’s mother.

Oct. 4

Criminal damaging: Pry marks were found on a damaged door to a home in the 20 block of James Lane.
