Ohio couple sentenced in child duct-taped case

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A man and a woman accused of duct-taping the woman’s 3-year-old child and recording the incident on a cellphone have been sentenced to prison.

A prosecutor’s spokesman says 27-seven-year-old Charles J. Jones Jr. was sentenced today in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court in Dayton to three years in prison. Twenty-two-year-old Sherry Allender was sentenced to 2 1/2 years.

The two were accused of taping Allender’s daughter’s mouth, hands, legs and feet last April in the Dayton area. County prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said the girl screamed when the tape was torn off her mouth.

Jones pleaded guilty last month to abduction and child endangering. Allender pleaded guilty to complicity to commit abduction and complicity to commit child endangering.
