Homicide ruling
WARREN
Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County coroner, has ruled the death of Philip J. Mann, 59, a homicide as a result of blunt-force trauma to the head and multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Philip Mann, 59, and his wife, Frances M. Mann, 53, were found dead in their Jefferson Street Southeast home Saturday after police were asked to check on their welfare.
Their son, Louis R. Mann, 31, is charged with their deaths and is in county jail.
Louis Mann told police he strangled his mother with a clothesline, then hit his father in the head with a flashlight and shot him. Dr. Germaniuk also ruled Frances Mann’s death a homicide.
Loan authorized
WARREN
Trumbull County commissioners have authorized a $125,000 loan from the county’s Revolving Loan Fund to help Old Forge Services Inc. of Braceville Township carry out an expansion.
Old Forge Services, which is on Shanks-Downs Road, is in the trucking and pallet-recycling business and moved into the county facility earlier this year. The loan will be for 15 years at 3.25 percent interest.
Farmers National Bank and the Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. also are participating in the loan package, which totals $700,000.
Leaf collection

Canfield city will run its 2011 leaf-collection program from Tuesday to Nov. 23. Residents must place leaves for pickup no more than 6 inches from street’s edge in a single row horizontal to the street. Leaves must not be placed in the street or mixed with stones, twigs or any debris, or they will not be collected.
GOP breakfast

The Trumbull County Republican Party will have its monthly breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the community room at Eastwood Mall near Dillard’s and Republican Party headquarters. Speakers will talk about state Issues 2 and 3.
Robbery reported
WARREN
A 32-year-old York Avenue Northwest woman reported being robbed at gunpoint and assaulted at 2 a.m. Tuesday at her home.
Just after she came home at that time, a man in his 30s pulled up in her driveway saying he knew her brother, but the woman didn’t recognize him.
According to police, the man pulled out a gun from his coat, slammed the woman into the house, then threw the gun in his car, she said. The man then slapped the woman’s face and took $60 from her purse, she said. He left in his car.
Town hall planned
SALEM
State Rep. Craig Newbold of Columbiana, R-1st, will host a town-hall event Saturday to discuss the details of Senate Bill 5 and how the law will affect local communities.
The session will be at 5 p.m. at Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. Newbold will be joined by state Rep. Jim Buchy, R-77th, who served in the Ohio House when changes to collective bargaining became law in 1983.
