The Canfield Historical Society’s fall lecture series will continue with a free lecture by Sis Soller on American humorist Erma Bombeck at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Bond House, 44 W. Main St., across from the Canfield Library.
Soller has been active in art and theater for 40 years and is the founder and president of the Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society. The next lecturer will be Tim Brookes, whose topic will be gangster Pretty Boy Floyd on Nov. 10. Call the historical society at 330-533-3458.

Will Madonna sing at Super Bowl?
Madonna is reportedly in talks to headline the 2012 halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, which would mark her debut on the massively watched pro football telecast. The singer and director’s rep told the Los Angeles Times on Monday that there is “nothing to confirm at this time;” an NFL official similarly had no comment to SBNation.com on its report.
