Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

A man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was in critical condition Monday night after being found on the city’s South Side.

Officers were called about 9:15 a.m. about a wounded man in a field in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue, near Thorne Street. As of Monday afternoon, Youngstown police had not been able to identify the man.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, police said.

If the man dies, it would be the city’s 15th homicide case of 2011. Nine days ago, Duane L. Colvin, 32, of East Florida Avenue, was found dead in a South Side field.

Colvin was found at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 between 463 and 471 Ferndale Avenue. A neighbor heard five gunshots the night before, and police found two shell casings and three bullet holes at 464 West Judson Ave., one street north of the body, according to reports.
