Pa.'s reported crimes fell 2.6 percent last year


HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The number of reported crimes in Pennsylvania is on the decline, and violent crime is falling even faster.

A state police report out today said 932,000 crimes were reported last year, down from 957,000 in 2009.

Overall crime fell 2.6 percent, while violent crime was down 3.6 percent, to a level last seen in 2003.

There were 46,000 violent crimes last year, down from 48,000 the prior year.

Murders were up slightly, from 651 to 657.
