Health care will cost everyone more next year


Employers’ health care costs are expected to top the $10,000 mark for the first time in 2012.

Health care premiums are expected to rise 7 percent next year, slightly lower than the 7.5 increase between 2010 and 2011, but enough to bring the total health care premium per employee above $10,000, according to a new study from Aon Hewitt, a human resources consultant.

Employers project to spend $10,475 per employee in 2012, $1,364 more than they did two years ago.
