Car slams school bus on Market Street in Youngstown
YOUNGSTOWN
A car slammed into a school bus waiting westbound in line to pick up children in the driveway of Southside Academy (formerly South Side High School), 1833 Market St., around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and ended up with its hood crunched under the bus. Some four feet of the corner of the bus was sticking into the street.
There were no children on the bus and the driver of the car, a young male, was not injured. The bus driver was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure but did not appear to be hurt, said Winnie Timpson, supervisor of transportation for Youngstown School District. Timpson said the yellow school lights flash from 3 to 5 p.m.
Youngstown police at the scene said the cause of the crash had not been determined.
