WARREN
Police say they are awaiting the results of an autopsy today on the bodies of Philip J. Mann and Fran M. Mann before saying what killed the Warren couple whose bodies were found Saturday in their home.
But when officers arrived at 1686 Jefferson Street Southwest at about 1:45 p.m., they found a .22-caliber rifle leaning against an living room wall, a spent shell casing and blood spatters on the wall and ceiling.
Both bodies were there in the living room, covered by blankets — Mrs. Mann, 53, on a mattress on the floor, the body leaning against a couch, and Mr. Mann, 59, curled up on the floor.
The shell casing was near Mr. Mann’s body.
Police also mentioned in a report released Monday that they recovered two flashlights in the room.
Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Cole said he had no information on the type of injuries visible on the bodies.
Louis R. Mann, 31, of Logan Avenue Northeast, the victims’s son, is in the Trumbull County jail, suspected of killing his parents.
Howland police filed a felony drug-possession charge against Louis R. Mann Monday morning in Warren Municipal Court.
He is due to be arraigned by video on that charge and possibly others at 1 p.m. today in Municipal Court.
Louis R. Mann was arrested at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Capri Motel on East Market Street in Howland. Police found his parents’ yellow 1982 Cadillac DeVille at the motel where Louis R. Mann and his girlfriend had been staying since about 2 p.m.
