Columbiana sheriff searches for man

LISBON

The Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a 71-year-old Center Township man who was reported missing Friday. The missing man, Gerald G. Klusch, of 37348 U.S. Route 30, is 6 feet tall, weighs about 185 pounds and has gray hair and brown eyes. Anyone with any knowledge of Klusch’s whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 330-424-7255.

Flu shots in Niles

Niles City Health Department, 34 W. State St., will offer flu shots for adults, 18 and older, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Participants must provide Medicare, Medicaid or Anthem Senior Advantage identification cards. For other HMOs including Medicare Complete and Aetna Medicare, the cost will be $20.

Immunization clinics for children will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and Oct. 19. No appointment is required, and no one will be refused for inability to pay.

Children’s immunization records must be provided. Children should not be ill, have a fever or rash.

Bike trail closing

A portion of the Western Reserve Greenway Bike Trail from state Route 88 to Hyde-Oakfield Road will be closed Thursday and Friday to repair bumps.

Habitat applicants

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road, Struthers, has orientation meetings for applicants at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Choffin Career & Technical School, 200 E. Wood St., Youngstown, and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County at 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Habitat homes are sold to qualified, low-income families at no profit with zero percent loans and mortgages from $300 to $500 a month.

Scientist to speak

The Dr. James Dale Ethics Center at Youngstown State University is sponsoring a presentation by Aaron Manka, senior investigative scientist at the National Science Foundation from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of Williamson Hall at YSU.

Manka has served as a research associate at the National Research Council. He has been with the NSF for the past 15 years.

Manka conducts investigations into allegations of research misconduct, including plagiarism, falsification, and fabrication. He also conducts criminal investigations into allegations of grant fraud. Manka has particular expertise in ensuring that research is conducted in an ethical manner.
