Member of Little Rock 9 to speak in Youngstown for Nonviolence Week

YOUNGSTOWN

A member of the Little Rock 9 that broke down color barriers in Little Rock, Ark., a half-century ago will be among the highlights of the Second Annual Nonviolence Week at Youngstown State University.

The week of special events runs Monday through Friday this week.

Among the activities this week:

At 2 p.m. Monday in YSU’s Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan I & II will be

Monday at the Movies: “Mooz-lum.”

The crew, featuring Evan Ross, Danny Glover, Roger Guenveur Smith, and Nia Long, of this film come from

different religions, cultures, and nationalities. The story is about a Tariq (Evan Ross) who comes from a strict Muslim rearing, and enters college confused. His new peers, family and

mentors help him find his place, but when violence happens on American

soil, the 9-11 attacks force him to face his past and make the biggest

decisions of his life. For more information, contact

At 5 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave, Jeff Steinberg and Minnijean Brown Trickey will conduct a forum.

Jeff Steinberg, a former history teacher, leads a nationally recognized

social justice and civil rights education project called, “Sojourn to the

Past.”

Minnijean Brown Trickey is one of the Little Rock 9, who broke
