David S. Kloss, a 1984 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, recently received the Fire Inspector of the Year award for the state of Indiana by the International Association of Arson Investigators.

Kloss is employed as a captain with the Indianapolis Fire Department and as a fire inspector with Shand Forensic Investigators in Spencerville, Ind.

Kloss received an associate’s degree from Youngstown State University and a degree in fire science from the University of Akron.

He is married to the former Kristen Barkman of Canfield, and they have three children. He is the son of Robert and Caryl Kloss of Austintown.
