Centenary United Methodist Church, 1413 Belmont Ave., will host a “Celebration Sunday” at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 9 with preaching and singing by the Rev. Tonya Fields-Brooks, pastor of New Freedom Ministries in Cleveland.

She is a gospel singer and concert soloist, having performed with “Stephanie & Friends” and the recording group “Glories of Gospel.” Her latest CD, “No Turning Back,” is available on iTunes.

The service will also include worship led by Minister Darren Thomas.

After the service, there will be refreshments and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the church.

Red Mass

The 15th annual Red Mass, a traditional celebration for those in the judicial and legal professions, is scheduled for noon Oct. 14 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 343 Via Mount Carmel.

Bishop George V. Murry will be celebrant. Monsignor Peter M. Polando, adjutant judicial vicar of the diocese’s tribunal, will be homilist.

The Mass is intended to bring together members of the bench and bar in a recommitment to the highest legal principles.

A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Reservations are required; checks in the amount of $20 should be made payable to the Diocese of Youngstown and note special dietary needs.

Hispanic Mass

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month activities, Santa Rosa de Lima Church, 394 Tenney Ave., will have a Mass at noon Sunday in Spanish.

After the service, there will be a social in Palermo Center with food, entertainment and fellowship. A donation of $3 is requested; children younger than 12 are free.

Pastors to be honored

Members of Fellowship Tabernacle Christan Center Church of God in Christ, 2139 Market St., will honor Pastor Kenny Eldridge and his wife and co-pastor, Dione Eldridge, in their seventh year of ministry.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7 and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Oct. 9.

Pastor K. Eldridge founded the Christian center. He also has been a musical producer for 15 years and was nominated for two Stella Awards and Dove Awards.

Mrs. Eldridge supervises the Women of Grace and Excellence Department.

Guests will be Superintendent A.C. Walker of Unity Holiness COGIC in Akron; the Rev. Jack Pettis of Mount Zion Baptist Church, the Rev. James Bowie Greater Friendship Baptist and Supintendent P.A. Loggins and the Phillips Chapel COGIC; Superintendent J. Morgan of Canton and the Rev. R. Herron of Warren.

The City Prayer Team of Youngstown will gather at 9 a.m. today at Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., to prepare for the November “conference of intercessors.”
