Wedding vows were exchanged Aug. 6 at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in North Jackson by Marie A. Young of Berlin Center and Joseph M. Smaltz of Girard.

The Rev. David Merzweiler performed the afternoon ceremony for the daughter of Lucy Young of Berlin Center and the late Urban Young, and the son of Patricia Thomas of Girard, the late Robert Smaltz and the late Warner Thomas. A reception took place at Mahoning County Country Club.

The bride wore an ivory gown with lace, an A-line halter with beaded embroidery and a sweep train.

Tami Calko, the bride’s cousin, was matron of honor. She wore purple, as did the bridesmaids, Laura Young and Jordan Young, the bride’s nieces.

Robert Smaltz was best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Zachary Young, the bride’s nephew, and Ethan Morrison. Ushers were Michael Young and Martin Young, the bride’s brothers.

The bride works as a nanny. Her husband works at Voith Industrial Services in Lordstown.

After honeymooning in Orlando, Fla., the couple are living in Berlin Center.
