YOUNGSTOWN

A 21-year-old man could spend more than two decades in prison on charges related to two separate robberies in the city.

Jermaine Moore, 21, of Philadelphia Avenue, has entered into plea agreements with prosecutors in the two felony cases against him. He will be sentenced today by Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

If given the maximum sentence for the crimes to which he has pleaded, Moore could spend the next 221/2 years behind bars.

On Monday, Moore pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. The charges carry a firearm specification, which includes a mandatory three-year prison term.

The charges stem from the robbery of a pizza- delivery man on the South Side earlier this year 2011.

Police say a 26-year-old pizza-delivery driver was making a delivery to an East Lucius address at 11:40 p.m. April 8 when he was met at the porch by a teenage boy asking if he could change a $100 bill to complete the transaction.

The driver told the boy he could not make that transaction and began to leave, but another man, believed to be Moore, came from the side of the house pulled out a handgun and ordered the driver to the ground.

The armed thief took the driver’s wallet, cash and cellphone.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, prosecutors will ask that Moore serve time in prison for those crimes, but the state will not request a specified amount of time.

Moore previously had pleaded guilty to felonious assault in connection with the beating of a man on Winona Avenue in 2010. Prosecutors, in that plea agreement, dropped a robbery charge against Moore.

Prosecutors said Moore was part of a group of individuals who beat and robbed a man of his shoes in the 2010 incident. It is believed the man’s high-priced tennis shoes were stolen as the beating took place.

Prosecutors again will ask for prison time but will not specify a term length.
